While in Ireland in 1995 Dean Nimmer resolved to do 1000 Drawings as a challenge to himself and as a path of exploration. The resulting drawings are remarkable for the existential impact they make together. One thousand drawings, all mounted close to one another demonstrate the artist's intense commitment to the life territory of making art.
Nimmer creates his drawings between midnight and dawn, which is for him a surreal time/space in which precautions and conscious controls are subdued. Here is the ground of discovery and emergence where intuition and raw energy build the work. He is there, again and again, the drawings say. And he is where he loves to be, to play, to tempt, to contemplate, to search.
